As I was growing up, I always remember loving to do hair, dressing up and doing makeup on myself and others. Once I hit my teen years the lightbulb went on and Cosmetology school it was!
I got the bulk of my training at the Elite Education Gurus at Bumble & Bumble. While there, editorial stylists would often want me to style hair on magazine shoots and that opened me up to a whole other world of opportunity.
With Kimora Lee Simmons already being my client at Bumble, I initially turned down the offer to do her show, “Life-n-Style”, which my colleagues disagreed with and encouraged me to take these types of opportunities. I was lucky enough to be approached again and I TOOK THE JOB! I immediately started working on “Life-n-Style”.
When that show ended I was on a plane at least once a week for years to come. I styled Kimoras hair for Baby Phat Fashion Shows, photo shoots, Cannes Film Festival, and Life in The Fab Lane (New Jersey & Los Angeles.) During this amazing busy time in my life, I was designing hair pieces, applying wigs, hair extensions & makeup for the next 16 years with Kimora. I felt I couldn’t learn fast enough and always wanted to know more.
This one choice has led to so many career opportunities in the years to follow:
- In (year) I designed a line of hair for Disney.
- In (year) I designed a line for Xtensify.com.
- Became an influencer for Proctor & Gambles NIOXIN.
This journey then led me to Alex Guarnaschelli, 12 years ago I started working with her on the Food Network show, “Alex’s day off” which then led to:
- Beat Bobby Flay
- Worst Cooks of America
- Giada De Laurentis,
- Guy Fieri,
- …and currently I am working on “The Kitchen” doing Alex Guarnaschelli’s hair & makeup along with other Tri state area productions.
Taking on more clients, juggling travel for work, and planning a wedding was a rollercoaster ride!
My career has led me to people and places I couldn’t imagine, such as styling hair for the late Nancy Sinatra and Diane Carol and more.
I am constantly excited an eager to learn more of my ever evolving craft. Now married with 3 kids, I am still doing hair and makeup on set, as well as private clients. When I am hanging out with my kids, I love pausing the tv show they are watching to show them how to spot whether the girls are wearing wigs & hair pieces. 😊 It important for me to show them why I work so hard, and why I am in business. I also want them to understand that the people on TV and in magazines and on social media aren’t born looking like a disney princess. But it can be fun to get dolled up like one - if you like that sort of thing!
